Op 13 juni hijst 019 de Petticoat Government-vlag boven Gent naar aanleiding van de release van de soundtrack van Petticoat Government op vinyl. De muzikale film die het project documenteert wordt de dagen voordien gepresenteerd in Cinematek en Komplot in Brussel.
Petticoat Government is een collectief project van Denicolai & Provoost, Antoinette Jattiot, Nord en Speculoos, ontstaan uit een kruisbestuiving tussen kunst, curatorschap, architectuur, typografie en cartografie. De vlag werd oorspronkelijk geproduceerd op uitnodiging van 019 en Off the Grid (Cas-co Leuven) en markeerde de publieke lancering van het project. Sindsdien legde ze een opmerkelijk parcours af: van Leuven naar de Alpen, waar ze dienstdeed als picknickkleed aan het Lago di Resia, tot het Belgisch Paviljoen op de Biënnale van Venetië 2024, waar ze werd ingezet als gordijn.
Als object van zelfbeschikking belichaamt de vlag de collectieve en rondreizende geest van Petticoat Government, een meerluikig project rond reuzenfiguren uit Europese volksverhalen dat voortdurend nieuwe vormen en contexten aanneemt.

On 13 June, 019 will raise the Petticoat Government flag above Ghent to mark the release of the Petticoat Government soundtrack on vinyl. In the days leading up to the event, the musical film documenting the project will be presented at Cinematek and Komplot in Brussels.
Petticoat Government is a collective project by Denicolai & Provoost, Antoinette Jattiot, Nord and Speculoos, emerging from a cross-pollination of art, curatorship, architecture, typography and cartography. Originally produced at the invitation of 019 and Off the Grid (Cas-co Leuven), the flag marked the public launch of the project. Since then, it has followed an unusual journey: from Leuven to the Alps, where it became a tablecloth for a festive picnic at Lago di Resia, and later to the Belgian Pavilion at the 2024 Venice Biennale, where it functioned as a curtain.
As an object of self-determination, the flag embodies the collective and itinerant spirit of Petticoat Government, a multi-chapter project centred on giants drawn from European folk traditions and continuously reshaped through new contexts and encounters.
